Conversations 13-25 How Long? Wait! Trust!

 1

   13: 1 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?

How long will You hide Your face from me?
2How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

25: 20 Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for You.

I come across interesting conversations as I read through the Psalms.

Of course these are beyond  "Hi! hey! hello! How are you?" casual conversations, that we are so used to in our daily lives. Conversations which really do not address deeper issues that we struggle with. As seldom are we willing to expose matters that trouble us, or as some would say matters that "eats us from the insides!" Another expression I have heard in Hindi to describe these deeper issues is "Dukti rag par hath rakhna"... or  touching a raw and tender nerve.

This conversation begins in Psalm 13, and the repetition of the words "How Long?" four times, indicates one such deep, raw, tender, sore point matter. "Forgotten forever" "Having sorrow in my heart daily". I can almost hear the Psalmist sigh, cringe and cry!

In many ways, these deeper cries and conversations are carried across the Psalms, and I can feel the roller coaster ride of thoughts, fears, emotions, consolations, joys as I wade through them. A reason why Psalms are so popular is because we can so well identify with them.

As I reach Psalm 25 in my reading this week, I can feel the pain reach a crescendo with the verses:
" 16 For I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses!
18Look on my affliction and my pain"

What then is the answer to the elemental question "How long?"?

The 25th Psalm ends with these verses, giving not just one answer but four...

20Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for You.

1. I hand over my soul and my deep matters for God to "Keep" till the right time and "Deliver" at the right time.
2. I keep on "trusting" God throughout my circumstances and situations.
3. I continue in my "walk" of integrity and uprightness.
4. I will "wait" for God.

As I meditate on these answers, I feel God's perfect peace overwhelming me. I am reminded of these verses in the book of Isaiah (Chapter 26).

3You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4Trust in the Lord forever,
For in YAH, the Lordis everlasting strength.

My prayer for my reader is also God's perfect peace in your life, no matter what the deep matters that are troubling you are, and I share with you this song....

Shalom! Shalom!
Perfect Peace.

Time: Karios and Chronus part A: Psalms 3 and 4

  A Time for Everything 1 For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. 2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. 3 A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. 4 A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. 5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. 6 A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. 7 A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. 8 A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace. 9 What do people really get for all their hard work?  10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all.  11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.  12 So I conc...

Ask, Seek, Knock

In the past month I have been reflecting on Jesus’ three simple yet life-changing invitations :  “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”  ( Matthew 7:7–8 ). As I have read, re-read and reflected on these words, often with cross references, I have discovered that these are not just an assurance of God that He answers prayers, but they are an invitation to draw closer to God in every season of life. Ask and Receive When we come to God with our needs, we discover that He is a loving Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children. We often ask for daily provisions: food, clothing, health, stability, which He graciously provides. Yet, the greatest gift He God is willing to give to all who ask, as the panacea of all our needs, is the Holy Spirit ( Luke 11:13 ). The Spirit is not merely a power, but God Himself dwelling within us. He convicts us of sin , teaches us truth , comforts us in trials , and empowers us...

The Rope of God’s Promises

Life often feels like climbing steep mountains, crossing deep rivers, or walking through dark tunnels. In those moments, our own strength fails—but God has given us a rope to hold on to: His promises. Scripture reminds us that in Christ, every promise of God is “Yes and Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20). We are heirs of Abraham’s covenant through faith in Jesus (Galatians 3:29). This means His words are not empty; they are anchors for our weary hearts. When trials press us down, the rope of promise pulls us up. When doubts whisper, the rope steadies our grip. It is by faith that we hold on to the rope. The Holy Spirit strengthens our hands so we do not let go, reminding us that the One who called us is faithful.  Today morning, as I reflected on Psalm 61:1-2 I was reminded of Christ our Rock.  "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.  From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I".  God not o...
