Good Friday 2024: The Cross on the Hill!

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason, I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe in Him for everlasting life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 Tim 1: 15-17

I remember when we were young and introduced to the television set for the first time, the only transmission we got was from a neighboring country. The greatest achievement would be to hoist the antenna on the rooftops, and slowly swing it in various directions until it captured the airwaves from a distant transmitter. Today, I marvel at the technology embedded in mobile phones, that helps us receive wi-fi and mobile signals, which help capture and release millions of bytes of data, that enable the seamless and uninterrupted transmission of data, audio, and video bytes from the palm of our hands, no matter where we are.

As Sikha and Ashok release a deeply inspired Good Friday song, this morning, I cannot help but marvel at how the cross on the hill of Calvary, with the bruised, hurt, and spent Christ hanging in deepest suffering and shame, connects us seamlessly to God's eternal love. The Cross at that one moment of time, is the eternal sacrifice, the finished work, the complete payment for the remission of our sins. It is God's (the King eternal, immortal, invisible, and who alone is wise) mode of transmission of eternity into our temporality. The releasing of Heaven into Earth. The restoration of the broken relationship between God and man. The culmination of the Father's agape Love for His children.

In Yeshua, Yah (YHWH: The Great I AM, The Ever Becoming One) becomes Salvation on the Cross. The cross set up on Calvary is like the antenna reaching across time and space. This eternal sacrifice, connects me, to the Heavens and Eternity.

Here's to the song, that takes us along with Yeshua, on his journey to the Cross at Calvary.
