Phillipians 3: 10-11 Knowing Jesus

 To know Christ means:

  • His life becomes my life
  • His power becomes my strength
  • His suffering becomes my pathway
  • His death becomes my surrender
  • His resurrection becomes my hope

Paul teaches that true discipleship is not just believing in Jesus—it is becoming like Him.

Knowing Christ is not a moment; it is a journey from faith to glory.

In Philippians 3:10–11, Paul the Apostle reveals one of the deepest desires of the Christian life: “that I may know Him.” This statement shows that following Christ is far more than practicing religion or knowing Bible facts—it is about entering into a living, transforming relationship with Jesus Himself.

Paul describes knowing Christ in several powerful layers. First, it means knowing Him personally. Faith is not simply believing truths about Jesus, but walking with Him daily, trusting Him deeply, and allowing His presence to shape our lives. Christianity begins with relationship, not ritual.

Second, Paul longs to know the power of Christ’s resurrection. This is not only the future hope of life after death, but the present power of new life today—victory over sin, strength in weakness, courage in trials, and hope in difficult seasons. The resurrection power of Christ works in believers now.

Third, knowing Christ includes sharing in the fellowship of His sufferings. Following Jesus means walking the path of obedience, sacrifice, humility, and sometimes rejection. We do not only share in His blessings; we also share in His cross.

Paul also speaks of being conformed to Christ’s death. This means dying to pride, selfish ambition, and self-centered living. True discipleship requires surrender. As we yield ourselves daily, we become more like Him.

Finally, Paul looks ahead to the resurrection from the dead—the ultimate hope of eternal life, complete union with Christ, and final victory over death.

To know Christ is to experience His life, His power, His suffering, His surrender, and His resurrection hope. It is a journey from faith to glory. Christianity is not just believing in Jesus—it is becoming like Him. That is the true depth of knowing Christ.
