As we come to the close of Hebrews, the journey feels beautifully complete.
We began by learning to draw near—to come confidently into God’s presence. We learned faith—to trust the One who has promised. We learned to endure when the journey becomes difficult, to see hardship not merely as something to survive but as God’s training ground, and to allow that training to produce holiness in us.
And then we discovered that we belong to an unshakable kingdom.
But Hebrews does not leave these truths in the realm of theology. Hebrews 13 brings them down into everyday life:
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have.”
Why?
Because “He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”
And therefore:
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.”
What a beautiful connection!
When faith in God’s faithfulness replaces fear, our conduct begins to change.
We no longer have to grasp for more to feel secure.
We can become content because God is our security.
We no longer have to live defensively.
We can become generous, hospitable, compassionate, faithful and courageous because God is our helper.
Perhaps this is one of the deepest lessons of Hebrews:
The more secure I become in God, the less I need to build my life around myself.
The journey from DRAW NEAR → FAITH → ENDURE → HARDSHIP → HOLINESS → UNSHAKABLE ultimately leads to a different way of living.
“I will never leave you.”
Therefore, “I will not fear.”
And when fear loses its grip, self-centredness loses its power.
So the unshakable life is not a life without hardship or uncertainty. It is a life that no longer needs to be controlled by them—because its security rests in a faithful God.
Draw near. Trust. Endure. Be formed. Live holy. Stand unshakable.
And then live differently—not because we have become strong enough, but because He is faithful.
